Do you believe that working hard means spending as much time as possible getting ...
Hi There, I'm Hanne Vervaeck
Here, I share my thoughts and findings on how to achieve Well Balanced Success

A Career You Love
Whether this is working for yourself or in a job you choose, having a career you enjoy and find fulfilling is an important part of achieving Well Balanced Success.
Relationships That Nourish You
Having time and energy to be present with the people closest to you (friends, family, your partner,...) is an integral part of Well Balanced Success.
Good Physical & Mental Health
How can you be your best self and enjoy life to its fullest if you are not in optimal condition? Taking care of yourself and your health is not something you can neglect.
I was doing all the "right" things....
Getting up at 4.30 AM, working on my own business, making more money than I did in my 9 to 5 but something was missing...
I was bored... I was bored working on my own, not having anyone around to discuss the next steps with and I knew I preferred working in a team rather than on my own.
That's when I received an email newsletter from Thrive Themes, a company I had been using to build my online business.
I could have easily ignored that newsletter, but I didn't. I opened the email and read the P.S.
"We're looking for marketing apprentices" - Click
I arrived on this landing page, describing everything I wanted to do and every value I believed in. Seriously... That page could have started with "Hi Hanne".
This offer was for a 3 month interernship in Barcelona.
So I did what every candidate would do...
I called my dad, announcing I was going to Barcelona for 3 months. He was slightly bewildered by this phonecall of his daughter, living in Paris at that time :-D
Don't you have to apply first?! "That's not going to be a problem, dad. They are looking for me!"
And they did... This was 5 years ago and I never regretted my decision.
What I wasn't prepared for was the reaction of my "friends"...
Why on earth would you wanna get a job??? Asked one of my "entrepreneur" friends articulating as if job was the nastiest word in the dictionary.
Because I believe in the company, because I'll learn so much, because I admire the founder,... But non of my arguments would do. I was a sell-out because I wanted to get "back into the rat race".
And this weird phenomenon has followed me around ever since. When I'm at a conference people ask when I'll start my own business (but ironically when I say I have no intention to do so the ask if they can hire me ;-))
It seemed like for so many of my friends, having your own company is THE ONLY way to be happy in their career.
All of this made me think... What else are we trying to convince ourselves (and others) of because we believe it's the "only way".
That's where my obsession with sleep comes into play... I need 9 hours of sleep to be fully rested. Getting up at 4.30AM in the morning means that I would have to go to bed at 7.30PM. That's not happening!
If I want a social life (which I do) this whole miracle morning thing doesn't make much sense.
And what about working 24h/day... That's what you need to do in order to be successful, right?
Wrong again...
A lot of very successful people do NOT overwork themselves... You just don't see them making social media videos because they are busy having a life ;-)
I'm NOT pretending I have this all figured out...
But I sure am motivated to do so! And along the way, I did figure out some things that I believe make a huge difference in my quality of life.
And that's exactly what I want to share with you in the Well Balanced Success Podcast.
I want to start a revolution to glorify a well balanced life over the crazy hustle!
We've been listening to the same old stories about sacrifice for too long... and it clearly hasn't worked!
- Divorce rates are through the roof
- Burnout and depression are almost considered a normal price to pay
- We're collectively getting more unhealthy with the day
So let's try something new, shall we?
If you too, believe that their must be a better way, than I would love for you to subscribe to the newsletter.
In this weekly newsletter, I'll send you the latest podcast episode and the occasional musings I only share in email. You'll also receive my Well Balanced Success Tracker to help you get started creating the life you want.
